iPhone 3G Coming To More Retailers Soon

Since the iPhone’s inception, its retail presence has been limited to Apple and AT&T stores but has since expanded in the past few months. After an ambitious plan to aggressively market the iPhone in over 70 countries, rumors sprang up about Best Buy and Radio Shack picking up the iPhone 3G. So far only big blue has deemed the iPhone worthy of adorning its retail shelves but another big box retailer may be selling Apple’s little bundle of plastic and glass goodness.

September, Best Buy was one of the first retailers Apple allowed to sell the iPhone 3G. Over 900 stores sold the phone which gave Apple an expanded retail presence in addition to Best Buy having a slim selection of Macs on display.

The big box retailer isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you need to buy electronics due to its reduced selection, but Apple is banking on Walmart’s expansive retail presence to market the iPhone 3G. The timing coincides with the busiest shopping day of the year, Black Friday, which is only weeks away. Apple increasing the iPhone’s availability could offset the load of customers going into their retail stores to purchase the phone and allow relief to iPhone buyers hoping to avoid the holiday rush.
