‘The Brick’ Makes A Thud In The Apple Rumor Mill

Rumors are never absent from a company’s growth and that goes for Apple too. Sure we’ve seen the crazy, unique and somewhat plausible but a new whisper of something new is making waves or in this case a massive hole in your window. Bloggers all around are drumming up theories on “The Brick” and unfortunately, have come up empty handed.
The main point of speculation is that this will be a product, just as we all breathe air and swim in water. The most obvious point is that this would be Apple’s rumored mystery transition product but I’ve been out of the loop on the company’s sales of mud and clay. However, 9to5Mac, the peddler of this rumor cites that it will somehow integrate with the Macbook line. The best guess so far has been a wireless USB hub. As of now it could be anything just like with any rumor but Apple has a lot of playing room with a wireless USB hub. They’ve gone through the first few steps to kill cables dead starting with the MacBook Air. Unfortunately teething problems are a big factor considering that when you hook up an external optical drive, you’re out of connectivity options. But by introducing a central hub, Apple could create a central storage and connectivity option for a house full of Macs such as wireless syncing iPhones, iPods and of course Time Machine backups a la Time Capsule. While not a major product worth losing sleep dreaming about, it is a step in the right direction for thinning out notebooks by scrapping ports that could be made wireless.
